Don't like to ask for help? If you don't, how will others have the opportunity to be kind?
I’ve done a lot of traveling in the past two weeks! So often, people have come to expect to experience a lot of unkindness when traveling - especially when flying!
But I experienced the opposite! An overwhelming amount of kindness!!
So today, on this beautiful Friday, here is my reflection from my travels: The best way to activate Kindness is to ask for help!
So often, people don’t want to “be a burden”, or appear weak or vulnerable, so they don’t ask for help when they are unclear about something or don’t know how to do something…or don’t have the strength (physical or mental) to do something. So they suffer in silence. Problem is, when that happens, other people don’t have the opportunity to help! To be kind! To shoulder some of that burden, to share their expertise, to help someone solve what they thought was an impossible problem.
Before my flight, on Wednesday night, my fabulous friends/clients took me out for a craft night, where I made the beautiful dried flower picture below! Problem was…I had to fly home end next morning…with my suitcase, purse, backpack, puffy fall jacket…and I was unsure about how to manage it all! So, when I got to the airport, I asked for help! And the gate agents responded with kindness! “Don’t worry, we’ll gate check your bag, so you can board early and put your backpack in the overhead! Then you can wrap your artwork in your puffy jacket and put it under your seat! It will be totally safe! Don’t worry! We’ve got you!”
And they did! As you can see, my flower artwork arrived safe and sound!
Today, and every day, please remember, you don’t have to (and can’t) do it all…or do it alone! That is why there are 8 billion of us here on Earth! To help each other! When you need help (and we all do!) please ask for it…so you can activate kindness in others, and get what you need!
Thank you to everyone in the past two weeks of travel for all of your help and kindness!
