Do you have a personal purpose? Can you state it simply? In five to seven words so it’s easy to remember? We often think about businesses having mission, vision and/or purpose statements, but how often do we think about what our own, personal purpose is? Although it’s easy to get wrapped up in our day-to-day work, it’s important to remember that our job – and job title – don’t define who we are. Who we are defines our work: both in and out of the workplace. And, perhaps even more importantly, who we are defines how we work and how we live, the way we interact with and treat other people, and our planet. So, if you don’t know what your unique, personal purpose is, how will you know that the work you do – whatever it may be – and the way you do it, is creating the world you want to live in now and the legacy you want to leave for the future? It all starts with purpose, so if you’re not sure how to answer the question I started with: ‘Do you have a personal purpose?’, today is a great time to start creating yours!
